Luka Ash Pascoe
Our son Luka, born November 2020 in Invercargill, New Zealand, is a fun loving kid with an infectious smile, personality and strength beyond his years.
Luka is said to look like his dad and have the adventure attitude of his mum. He has scaled several mountains already, surpassed 30km/h on the jet-ski, kayaked across the lake, wooed people around town with his cheeky smile and high fives or fist bumps. He is a kid who absolutely loves life.
Luka was recently diagnosed with high-risk Neuroblastoma Cancer with cancer in his stomach, legs and scull area. We have been sent to Christchurch for 12 - 16 months of ongoing treatment including chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy & surgery.

We, Katelyn & Toby, have decided to fight this head on with Luka with the mantra that we are a team. Our backgrounds as sports athletes & firefighters show us this is one of the best ways we can get through this very tough time.
The idea of this blog is to acknowledge what Luka is going through but also act as an outlet for us as parents and not shy away from the affect on all of us. There is no point trying to hide from the reality of this. Our hope is that by putting all of this out publicly to not only family & friends, but also our wider community, that we tackle this head on, not shying away from this experience and horrible moment in time.
Our main aim is to show that cancer doesn't just get to takeover and win, that underneath all of this is a child who is fighting everyday while living and enjoying life as any young child should be able to.
